Biography

At age 17, Sadie has a long string of song-writing, vocal and stage awards and almost 30 festival appearances. Beginning song-writing at the age of 8, she won the Maldon Minstrel award, the youngest ever in the festival’s 40-year history. She recorded an album at the age of 10 with Bald Hills Studios and then went on to win a series of awards over several years, including winning finalist for Music Australia’s national ‘Count Us In’ with John Foreman OAM. She presented alongside John at BMW Edge and her song was sung by half a million school children. In 2018, she was nominated by Cygnet Folk Festival to perform for the Folk Alliance at the National Folk Festival in Canberra where she was picked among dozens of acts for the illustrious Lis Johnstone Memorial Award for vocal excellence. She performed solo to over 2,000 audience members on the closing night. The following year (2019), her band was one of a handful chosen from thousands of applicants to perform professionally at the event. Also, in 2018, at age 15 she was finalist in the Freeza Push Start series and played at St Kilda Festival, the largest music event in Australia. Soon after, her first EP ‘Up Left & Turn’ was finished with Rangemaster Studios. Sadie is also an accomplished violinist and acquired her AMusA in 2018, the youngest in the history of Yarra Valley Grammar. A multi-instrumentalist (violin, piano, ukulele, guitar, percussion) she has appeared as a session musician and support for the international touring group Belle Miners and played in studio productions for many other artists. She dabbles in home-production, has lately written a musical and most recently, completed her single “More” appearing on the Triple J Unearthed charts. She has acquired numerous accolades from her music industry peers, as well as an almost comprehensive string of youth music awards for anyone her age. Sadie is a prolific artist, who has written over 100 songs and has a knack for creating memorable and inspiring tunes and lyrics.
