August wrap-up (and something cool you might want to watch)

Hello everyone!

Welcome to those of you who are new, and welcome back to the rest of you.

I thought I’d start giving monthly updates and behind-the-scenes about what I’m doing, so here’s a recap of the month of August!

(There also might be a sneak peak at something cool, and some exciting news at the end)

  • Gigs gigs gigs! The Evelyn Hotel with the band, Selby Folk Club and Northcote Social Club.

  • “Acoustic night” launch at Open Studio for ‘Shades of Yellow’ EP.

    • HERE is a link to ‘Holding Something Imaginary’ recorded live that evening performed by myself, Dom (violin) and Kaylah (vocals).

    • Kaiyah Mercedes did a support slot and she was AMAZING, click HERE to learn more about her.

  • In something a little different… I composed a piece of music inspired by a visual that came third place in the WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research) ‘Art of Science’ Installation

    • You can listen HERE and then go on to see some of the other artwork and the music written by friends of mine :))

    • The work titled ‘Disco’ is a ‘map’ of molecules within cancer cells in a small region of a tumour. To emulate this in the music, I used all “natural” sound sources; voice, body percussion and violin. These sounds were then processed and manipulated to emulate the “natural” nature of cancer cells, their manipulation, and the fact that the artwork was a digital representation of something real.

  • HERE COMES THE SOMETHING COOL - At my EP Launch in July, Matthew Wood and Isaac Baker filmed THE ENTIRE THING!! So YOU are the first people seeing the fantastic video of me and the band live at the Gasometer Hotel… here’s a peak of ‘Midnight’ live at the Gasometer.

Lastly, my very exciting new is… that I’M LEAVING FOR ENGLAND NEXT MONTH. I’ve been accepted into the University of Nottingham and will be studying Music there for the next four months on an exchange program. The plan is to go over, see my family, do some gigs (and of course lots of studying), head over to Europe for a bit, maybe record something… and then travel around England in Feb. If you know any cool places, let me know!

Thanks for your time and for being such supportive people! Have an amazing September :))
