St Kilda Grand Final win: a chance for Girl on the Hill on the Push Stage this February

On 10 February at Australia’s largest free music event, St Kilda Festival, Girl on the Hill will be competing for the coveted FReeZA Push Start Grand Final Prize.  More than 60 of the nation’s hottest musical talents will perform over seven stages throughout St Kilda with crowds expected to surpass 400,000 on the day. 

FReeZA Push Start gives young artists chance to showcase their work. Girl on the Hill, along with eight other finalists, contested for a spot at the prestigious final, beating bands in dozens of district and regional heats across the state. 

“FReeZA Push Start was a great chance to experience live music from some brilliant young artists. I feel grateful and excited to have made it this far and can’t wait to see everyone on stage”, says Sadie.  

With a comprehensive string of song-writing, vocal and stage awards and almost 30 festival appearances, Girl on the Hill - aka Sadie Mustoe (15) - recently published her debut EP ‘Up Left & Turn’, in collaboration with Rangemaster Melbourne producer David Carr. 

“Working with Sadie is what I imagine it would have been like working with a young Kate Bush ... someone whose musical DNA is staggering”, says David. 

Sadie also recently participated in Push Songs, a mentoring program run in conjunction with APRA AMCOS, Creative Victoria and Australia Council working alongside Charles Jenkins, Adalita and Thando.

“Sadie effortlessly pairs stunning lyricism with an emotive soundscape and takes your breath away”, Thando.

“I was blown away by Sadie’s incredible voice, dedication to her craft and her star quality. She is super talented and has that something special that is rare and hard to come by”, Adalita.

Girl on the Hill will be on The Push stage at St Kilda Festival with her band on 10 February from 1230 - 1250.
